What was your most memorable show?
I led the hair team for the A/W/11 Felder Felder show, which was amazing. Session hairdressing isn’t my primary role, so it was brilliant to be just a bit outside my comfort zone. I had a great team to support me and we all really enjoyed working with the twins (design duo Annette and Daniela). And we were really pleased with the hair.
Any fashion disasters?
Absolutely not! We plan to succeed – not fail. The TIGI Team is so used to doing hair shows that the pressure is never a problem. The hairstyles at a fashion show might be different, but the planning, research and organisation required is the same.
What have been your fashion highlights?
Fashion is a funny thing – you cannot help but be impressed by working backstage with the world’s top fashion designers like Vivienne Westwood or Donatella Versace. Then there’s the new superstar designers like Christopher Kane, or seeing Anna Wintour in the FROW. But actually my greatest highlight is working with my TIGI Team backstage and seeing how we all help each other and get it all done seamlessly.

What’s your ultimate way to unwind after Fashion Week?
I love cooking, so my favorite way to unwind is to make dinner for my wife Stacey and daughter, Rubee. Then, when Rubee goes to bed, I like to lock myself away and make some music, I’m a bit of a DJ when I have the time.
Who is your mentor and why?
Anthony Mascolo has always been my mentor. His way of dressing and cutting hair is second to none. And he works in a totally stress free, relaxed way, that comes from 100 per cent confidence in what he does. While he hasn’t been a session hairdresser for many years, the way he works and his ability to just ‘fiddle’ with hair and make it look incredible never fails to inspire me.
What are your words of wisdom for aspiring session stylists?
Being a session stylist means working with a team – including the designer, make-up artists, models, stylists and the other hairdressers. It’s not a place for egos and it’s about knowing what you have to do, planning for the result and getting on with it, in the allotted time. Whether you’re working on a shoot or a show, teamwork is really important.
What’s hot for S/S11?
Middle partings and free, undone waves and curls (all with a ’70s edge), fine braids going into knots at the nape, and hair with a finger-waved effect at the front, side partings and hair tied in a ponytail.
Favourite show from the S/S11 season?
Well as I led it, I have to say Felder Felder.
