Up-and-coming session stylist and member of the Marc Antoni artistic team, Dan Spiller jetted off to Paris Fashion Week for the S/S12 season.
What was your most memorable show?
It has to be the Issey Miyake S/S12 show that I recently did in Paris; the whole look was so striking. Once we finished the show everyone was backstage celebrating the success of it and we were all applauding the designer. It just felt like nothing I had experienced before.
Any fashion disasters?
No real disasters although we almost had a few models fainting with the unexpected heat wave that weekend!
What has been your fashion highlights?
It has to be working alongside my session hero Eugene Souleiman, such an inspirational guy.
What’s your ultimate way to unwind after fashion week?
A few beers looking over the view from Montmartre hill, awesome!
Who is your mentor and why?
My boss Bruno Giamattei, he quite literally taught me everything I know about hair!
What are your words of wisdom for aspiring session stylists?
Stay focused, keep collaborating with as many other people as possible to build your portfolio and remember no egos.
What’s hot for AW/11?
Think along the lines of Sir Ernest Shackleton, the antarctic explorer. So the hair will have an element of undone rawness to it, whilst being rich in tone and healthy.

What were your favourite shows from A/W11?
Moschino’s collection was beautiful and had a Spanish element to it-think of a stunning, well-travelled, equestrian girl with a nomadic feel. I also really enjoyed D&G’s men’s collection, the look here didn’t involve combing the hair, which gave the thirties-inspired styling and retro feel more of a ‘Italian field worker’ than frumpy old man. Classic but not dated!
What were your favourite shows from S/S12?
Well it has to be the Haider Ackermann and Issey Miyake shows that I worked on at Paris Fashion Week, both from an experience perspective and both the hair looks- which were both really very different from each other but equally inspirational.
