The trend
For fashions finest, it’s all about copper. Redheads will have another outstanding season as they step away from the extra bright pillar box hues to cooler, muted tones.
Labels we loved
Mulberry
Creative director Emma Hill describes this season’s Mulberry girl as “a gorgeous girl living in a dilapidated country estate”. All chunky knits, vintage florals and winter boots, the designs definitely fit the bill. But it was the beautiful copper manes on the models that caught our eye, summing up this season’s perfect colour. Not to mention the ultimate companion, a miniature schnauzer…
Miu Miu
This season, the Miu Miu woman was all grown up, playing homage to the ‘40s with vintage prints, cat eye sunglasses and glitter Mary Janes. Hair was twisted back at the temples, with tan and copper tones popping throughout the collection, whether in a coat, Peter Pan collar or the hair itself. With a Kate Bush soundtrack, the show demonstrated exactly how to be a lady but always with a cheeky wink.

Catwalk colour
With copper in poll position for A/W, Neil Barton, owner of Neil Barton Hairdressing clarifies the esculating demand, commenting that, “This season coppers have a washed out feel, as seen at Mulberry and Armani,” says Neil. “Go one step further and add flashes of purple through the red – if done right, it looks incredible,” he adds.
Turn to Schwarzkopf Professional’s just launched Essential Looks IGORA Colour collection for a stunning reds showcase. “This A/W copper is a fashion forward way to really express some personality,” says Charlie Taylor, Schwarzkopf Professional UK Essential Looks ambassador. “Combine copper and auburn for beautiful shine and a touch of femininity. Clients love these colours and they are always so easy to promote.”
John Clark, head of the colour department at Brooks & Brooks sees, “Rose copper and silky raspberry blondes as the leading reds,” he says. “Think delicate, citrus tones,” adds John.
For the perfect range of seasonal reds, Redken Shades EQ has five-brand new shades, including vivid Shiny Penny and a pinkish, Strawberry Lemonade.
