The trend
Textures and intricate handicrafts of this opulent trend are a feast for the eyes; jewel tones and precious metals sparkle and shine against a backdrop of gold, bronze and silky black.

Labels we loved
Alexander McQueen: Fit for a princess, the sparkling gold screams self-assurance and luxury.
Jean Paul Gaultier: The details were like discoveries of trinkets on worldwide travels. From a Mexican-blanket skirt and Massai-necklace to the fur-trimmed backpack and gold foil turban sported by Sasha Pivovarova, it was an inspired mash-up!

Catwalk colour
Could there be a more ideal technique than Diamond, from INOA’s Evolution Colour Collection? For light bases, this look embraces warm and cool blondes for a ravishingly radiant colour, using three complementary shades to deliver depth and texture through the front diamond section in the hair. Hooker & Young call this key look Grunge Deluxe, with more adventurous clients experimenting with deep, rich mahogany tones blending into softer conker shades through the mid-length and ends, to create a focal point for dramatic effect. For Toni&Guy, simple techniques in standout palettes are reminiscent of the iconic female ’90s grunge generation – colour is bright, bold and beautiful. Schwarzkopf Professional ambassador Rae Palmer also sees a season of opulence – velvety rich clarets, berries, mulberry and deep ebony tones for darker hair, while raspberry, lavender and rose undertones mixed with sand, cream and bamboo blonde shades will leave a luxury tone and finish.
“Seen on the catwalks was an abundance of deep rich, sensual brunette shades with an expertly blended infusion of blackberry, dark cherry or warm velvety tones.”
Jayson Gray, international technical director of Toni & Guy
