With rock-star genes from dad Lenny Kravitz, there was never much doubt that Zoe was going to be any less than style-savvy. A firm favourite on the Chanel front row, with Uncle Karl’s approval this girl is definitely one to watch! Lesley Lawson, Schwarzkopf global colour ambassador and colour director at Real hair, talks us through Zoe’s choppy fringe and summer-ready shades.
The look: Zoe’s look is one that has certainly got her noticed in recent years! With a penchant for Wayfarers, oversized layers and all things Eighties and Nineties it’s a mixture of grunge rock, with a hint of boho. Zoe’s look is unique – as well as fun and feisty!
The palette: Sun-kissed caramel highlights in Zoe’s rich-chocolate tresses give the illusion that she has been soaking up some rays. Her make-up is similarly chilled – she usually works a look that is seemingly effortless, either a natural eye and a statement lip or a natural lip with a smokey eye.
Technique: Zoe’s hair is very on-trend; right now people want to look like their hair has different tones but is not coloured. Using the natural colour with a complementing tone that’s just a few shades off it, and working these next to each other, creates beachy, effortless locks.
Alternative take: A favourite technique of mine which can work on any hair cut or texture – if it’s done in the right way – is a French method called bayalage (free hand). If I was to have the pleasure of doing Zoe’s hair, I would heavy-hand the bayalage and, still using a few tones, I’d keep the roots darker while making the ends lighter. Overall, this would leave us with something a little more grungy and cool to suit Zoe’s look.
