Spotted in her local Primark, Jourdan Dunn was immediately signed to Storm Management by Sarah Doukas, the very same who found Kate Moss. Jourdan was the first black, leggy-limbed beauty to walk a Prada runway in 13 years, simultaneously scoring the cover of the ‘black issue’ of Italian Vogue. The British model regularly appears in British Vogue, V, i-D and various campaigns including Yves Saint Laurent and Burberry. Lisa Shepherd, super colourist and Managing director of Lisa Shepherd salons, dissects her glossy locks.
The look: Jourdan’s style is glamorous and yet subtle. Her colour accentuates her feminine side without being too much of a statement and completely changing her look. Teamed with her straightened locks, this colour is glossy, vibrant, and accentuates her gorgeous dark eyes.
The palette: Jourdan has bid farewell to her usual ebony locks and is exploring life on the lighter side with this slightly sun-kissed look for the season. Clynol Viton Go Blonde Meche would be great for lifting the top section of the hair, while Clynol Viton Brilliance would be used on top to create a brunette multi-tonal effect.
Technique: This was clearly done using a micro-lights technique – a high impact colour placement using micro-fine weaves to pre-lighten on the top layer of the hair. Clynol Viton Go Blonde Meche adds the colour polish and accents with brunette-like notes of chocolate, latte and mocha, which are placed on top for a multi-tonal finish that complements the natural ebony look underneath.
Alternative take: This really subtle colour works really well for Jourdan. It’s sophisticated and glamorous without being too overbearing, she could possibly carry off this tone all over. Although I love Jourdan’s hair worn sleek like this, I think that some starlet waves or curls would highlight her new colour more as the tones would be a lot more noticeable. Worn her own way she still looks beautiful.
