THE PANEL

Q With regards to overheads, what are the safest percentages to work within?

KEN: It is not that easy to name a percentage and I am wary of those that give a percentage. Be careful as you can’t change the percentage that you pay to the team without their consent. The bigger you get the bigger the numbers become and the bigger the charges. Set your prices according to your overheads and justify the prices – why should people be paying this? If you charge more, charge them but don’t play around with your wages structure.

CORY: Once a quarter sit down and look at bills that are not wage-related and figure out how you can save money. Ring up the utilities companies that you use and see if you can save, tell them how much you ideally want to be paying and see what they can do for you.
