Q As an independent salon, what key advice
can you give me?
A The key thing is to keep your salon staff really happy so they give off that vibe. Never ever talk about the recession or negativity. Keep team motivated and this will pass on to customers.
The key thing for me is to go out and network. Do charity events, put local adverts and got to all hairdressing events where you can. Take the team along. Make a noise in your local town.
Don’t wait for the customers. Give demonstrations to the local people in the evening, at events. Just go out there and bring them in!
Only give customers a discount with a graduate stylist. Never seniors. It is a good way to build up a graduate’s column, get them repeat business. It keeps them busy and gives them confidence.
