Stylish salon interiors from around the world

Bundy Bundy, Vienna

A former emperor’s apartment, no less, Bundy Bundy’s flagship salon in Vienna retains the aura of an age-long past with a high-class contemporary edge. Inspired by the extravagant charm of the premises, the owners’ main aim was to maintain the gentility of the individual rooms while translating it firmly into the 21st century.

“We saw this building as a stage for beauty: not a place for a career, but one for a calling,” says owner Georg Bundy. “The prospect of creating a salon within the splendour of a baroque palace was exciting. A new building would have been far simpler, but it would not have reflected our tradition.” Another focus of the salon concept is the customers, who are made to feel like guests in a five-star hotel.

Beyond the welcoming lobby, complete with open fireplace, the 430 sq m of space elegantly houses a lounge, a crystal hall with a sumptuous baroque table and walls dipped in mother of pearl, as well as a mirror hall. The mirror hall is inspired – it’s a catwalk. “We wanted the rooms to remain as they originally were – but we needed a unifying element. The result was the catwalk: a mirror gallery that creates a link with the old parlor and serves as a stage in the new salon,” says Georg.

Finally, there is the hair spa – an oasis of relaxation, cleverly dominated by calming green colour. The concept is strongly influenced by the bold and beautiful colour palette. The spectrum runs from soft light beige and strong mauve, through to a lustrous mother-of-pearl and clarifying mint. Sophisticated lighting design intensifies the ambience, giving each room its very own personality.
