I just got back from the most amazing trip to Tokyo! One of the massive perks of being a member of the International Artistic Team is travelling around the world. It is so interesting to learn about different cultures and it was dream trip. It was in aid of a celebration for 25 years of Toni&Guy education, with an original member of the Art Team and the longstanding owner of Toni&Guy Japan, Kenji Saiga. Everything was amazing, from the people, the food and the hairdressing, especially walking down Harajuku Street. The team hosted a show for 4,000 hairdressers in a stadium, so it was pretty surreal. And of course, not forgetting the karaoke, which is a must when you’re in Japan!

Good afternoon Efi…I just adore the work that was done in this photo. I’ve seen it in several hair magazines and I’d like to do a style similar to this for a hair show at my school. I’m studying cosmetology at Citrus College in Glendora, CA and at the end of this month (March 31st) we’re hosting a Hooray for Hollywood themed Hair Show. Unfortunately, I havent figured out how to get the braid to stand up like that and its a very big part of the finished design. It would be an honor to blessed with your genius. If you could please email me back at your earliest convienence I’d appreciate it so much.
Thank you for your time!
Hope to hear from you soon

Hi Latoya,
Thanks for your comment and kind words. Would love to assist you on this matter, the way i got the plait raised up is by following a classic reverse technique in scalp plaiting and by using bonding that you can buy from any good Haberdashery. You can then plait around the boning structure ensuring that the hair will stay up, but you will need another pair of hands to help to make sure you keep the same tension throughout.
Good luck, hope thisi s helpful. The TONI&GUY Academy run a specialised day on the Sesion and Editorial course on braids and interlacing, so you might like to enquire.
